Permanent Marker

I was a having a GREAT day. I was being super productive. Not only was I doing everything on my To Do list, I was getting more done than I set out to accomplish. I was in the kitchen on canning/freezing whirl-wind. My timing was awesome, everything was going as I wanted it to....no wait everything was going even better than I wanted it to.

I was in food preservation heaven. I was canning Apple Butter, I was shredding and freezing 12 cups of zucchini and I was prepping my pumpkin puree for my Thanksgiving Pumpkin pie. Yes preparing for Thanksgiving, my day was that organized. I should have known it was to good to be true. I was even patting myself on the back for being a Domestic Diva and a Queen of Food Preservation.

When you are canning there is a critical moment when you can not disturb your work. Everything was sanitized and hot, and I was starting to fill my jars when my 2 year old walks into the kitchen and says "Look at me" and wow she was something to look at. She scribbled all over her body with HOT PINK permanent marker. I had 2 choices, drop the apple butter, go survey the damage and then restart the apple butter several hours later. OR pray the damage was only on her and continue canning.

I picked the apple butter. If I didn't get the apple butter in the water bath and done before the school bus I couldn't get to it again until after LEGO class, dinner and then after the girls bath (F- needed a long, long bath that night).

After I started the water bath I checked out the destruction. My very first thought was I wonder if I could file an insurance claim?

ALL of my stairs looked like this. Did I mention the marker is permanent?
Little artist touches through out the entire upstairs
A few stuffed animals (thankfully they were all washable)
Here she is mocking me. Carrying the carpet cleaner around as I am frantically scrubbing walls/woodwork/windows. Notice her toes, she went extra heavy (even in between) for a pedicured look.
In our school district they won't release a kindergartner off the bus unless somebody is there to get them. I had 10 minutes to clean as much marker as possible before the bus.

I will have to touch up paint on a few walls and I'm still working on the carpet. I took a break after I developed chemical burns on my fingers. It looks better but there are still pink smears in the fibers, I just picked up some new stuff, I'll hit the stains again tomorrow.

Did I mention my husband is in Hawaii?
